Creative Spelling Game: World Building with Bag Clips

Word building with bag clips is a little spelling game I came up with while wandering the aisles of Ikea. 😉 Ikea has these bag clips that I love and I was thinking that there had to be something fun I could use them for. I picked up an extra pack and the idea started growing! My kids love playing with them, so I knew they would be on board with this word building game.
How to Make the Word Building Game
You will need the following:
Index Cards
Bag Clips
Wet Erase Marker
Sharpie Marker
On the smooth side of the bag clips, use the wet erase marker to write letters. I wrote the vowels on them, but you could do it a variety of different ways.
Fold an index card in half. This makes it more durable for the clips when they attach. Leaving the center empty for the vowel, write letter combinations that will make words when the vowels are added in.
Then, just let your kids try out building their own words. They may build some non-sense words, an that’s ok! They will giggle and move on to try building a new word.
