Hey there! Thanks for stopping by. I want to show you our latest spelling and reading activity with Short E CVC words. I made a set use like this for the Short A CVC Words already, so check those out, too!
What are CVC Words?
CVC stands for Consonant – Vowel – Consonant. They are short words with three letters that are perfect for those kids learning to read and spell. These are the next step after kids learn their letter sounds. They are perfect to use when teaching them to sound out words and blend sounds for the first time. If you have a child learning to read, you will recognize thee words from all of the beginning leader sets! (the Bob Books are a good set to use to start, I also love this set from Dash into Reading, they are just so cute!)
Short E CVC Words Printable Set
This printable set has 23 Short E words made into mats for building the words. There are also puzzles of each of the words. These mats are meant to be used with letter tiles. However, you could have kids write the letters in (laminate & use a dry erase marker) or use magnet letters, or even letter cookies/crackers. Cheez-Its have some scrabble letter crackers that we like and we also love these alphabet cookies from Walmart. You have to open a bunch of packs to find all of the letters, but then we just munch on them for a while! That’s my kids’ favorite way to play with them. Never underestimate the power of food in learning!
CVC Words Included In This Set:
The puzzles that come with the set are another fun way to practice spelling the words. They have the same words and pictures as the word cards, but you don’t need the letter tiles to use them.
