Autumn is on it’s way and it get’s me thinking of all of the wonderful Halloween activities that will soon be heading our way. I always love creating something fun and different for any Halloween or autumn parties.  Plus this is a healthy Halloween party idea. Those are hard to come by.  This Funny Face Veggie Platter looks eerily real and has a spider crawling across it~ extra creepy!  It is perfect for a healthy Halloween or Autumn party side, especially if you pair it with some Sabra Hummus (from Walmart) for dipping. Yum!

Want to Make Your Own Funny Face Veggie Platter?

To make it you need a wide variety of vegetables. We used Napa cabbage and Spring mix lettuce for the background of the face. The cabbage also serves as his hair along with green beans or sugar snap peas.  Use the ends of green onions for the eyebrows.

To make the eyes of this funny face veggie tray cut slits in some mini peppers and put an olive or a cherry tomato in the center. The nose is a large arrow cut a bit shorter. The cheeks and chin are mushrooms and celery frames the outside of the face. I also added some cherry tomatoes around the outside edge of the face for more color.

How to Make the Avocado Spider

To make the spider that is crawling across the face, I used a whole avocado, 4 pipe cleaners cut in half and a can of olives. Put four pipe cleaners on each side of the avocado to make the legs and fill them with 5-6 olives each.Avocado Spider for Halloween Veggie Trays

Since this does not allow a lot of actual dipping items, I also include an extra tray of all of the vegetables surrounding the face. Plus, don’t forget a carton of Sabra hummus for the tastiest dipping option around!

I had a gaggle of boys over when I was making this and they thought it was the coolest thing ever. They were quite excited to dig in and eat the creepy face I made.

We found our Sabra hummus in the refrigerator section near the deli at Walmart.  Use it to make your Halloween party tray much more exciting! For more recipe ideas, check out this pagethis page.
