This week I am working on some fairy tale themed content on my site. I created a printable set of Mini Fairy Tale Books for kids. These are perfect little short fairy tales for your little ones!
Also included in this post is a set of Fairy Tale Play Figures! Â I took the same images I used in the books to make little figures that kids can use to re-enact the stories of the fairy tales themselves.

This is a wonderful way to help them with their memory by retelling the stories. It is also a great imaginative play activity for them.
Mini Fairy Tale Books for Kids
This printable set of short fairy tale books includes eight classic fairy tales condensed down to tiny stories for your young readers.
Fairy Tales included:
- Little Red Riding Hood
- The Gingerbread Man
- The Three Little Pigs
- Jack and the Beanstalk
- The Ugly Duckling
- Goldilocks and the Three Bears
- Three Billy Goats Gruff
- Hansel and Gretel
Each of the mini books has six tiny pages with pictures.
I made them all in color and in black and white for those not wanting or able to print in color. Also, they are fun for kids to color in!
Fairy Tale Play Figures
For each of the eight fairy tales, I also made a set of play figures that kids can use to re-enact the stories. Â These can easily be cut and assembled with tape or scissors.
My kids loved using these with our Three Little Pigs STEM Project that we did a few days back. They also would be great with the Goldilocks and the Three Bears STEM Project we did a while back!
These are just in color at this time.
Origins of Fairy Tales
Most of the classic fairy tales that we are familiar with originated from either Grimm’s Fairy Tales written in 1812 and first called: Children’s and Household Tales, or from Hans Christen Anderson. He also wrote  his stories in the 1800’s.
The original versions of most of these fairy tales were quite violent and gruesome and not very suitable for children. We have modified a lot of the today and made them more child friendly.
These mini fairy tale books are very simplified from any original versions. Since they are on such small pages, many details are left out, but they are still great for a quick overview of the story. You can fill in extra details when reading them if you would like!
