A little pretend play is fun for everyone sometimes, especially messy play. This week my kids and I set up an anatomy lab made of gelatin!  This is an awesome Halloween science activity, or for an anatomy unit in school. They went nuts over this activity and when it was done immediately asked when they could do it again!

It is so easy to make gelatin, that I definitely will do it for them again! Be prepared for a bit of mess by the end of it!

How to Create A Pretend Anatomy Lab:

We used:
Brain, Heart and Skull Gelatin Molds
Plain Gelatin
Colored Water in Cups, Beakers or Test Tubes
Eye Droppers or Medicine Syringes
Cutting Tools- we have a set of dissection tools.

Make the gelatin according to the package directions. Spray the molds with cooking spray and pour the gelatin into the molds. Chill until firm.

Then my kids used the syringes and eye droppers and inserted the colored water into the gelatin. They also used knives to pretend they were doing surgery.

They were so cute talking as if they were doctors and pretending they were cutting into the brain and the heart.

After a while it got pretty messy!

They didn’t mind, though!! This pretend anatomy lab was a huge halloween-y success!  We are already planning our next one!
