My kids went nuts over this activity and when it was done immediately asked when they could do it again!

How to Create A Pretend Anatomy Lab:

Supplies for Your Gelatin Anatomy Lab

To create your own hands-on pretend play science lab, you’ll need:

• Gelatin (plain, unflavored or colored)
• Brain, Heart, and Skull Gelatin Molds (silicone molds work best)
• Colored Water (food coloring + water in cups, test tubes, or beakers)
• Medicine Syringes or Eye Droppers
• Child-safe Dissection Tools or Plastic Knives
• Cooking spray (for easy mold release)

How to Set It Up:

Prepare the Gelatin:

• Follow package instructions to mix and dissolve gelatin in water.
• Spray molds lightly with cooking spray.
• Pour gelatin into the molds and chill until firm (typically 4+ hours).

Prep the Science Lab:

• • Set out colored water in test tubes, cups, or beakers.
  • Provide syringes, droppers, and cutting tools.
  • Place gelatin “organs” on trays or shallow pans.

Let the Fun Begin!

• • Kids can pretend to be surgeons or scientists.
  • Use the tools to inject colored water into the gelatin.
  • Carefully cut open the organs to explore the inside.

They were so cute talking as if they were doctors and pretending they were cutting into the brain and the heart.

After a while it got pretty messy!

They didn’t mind, though!! This pretend anatomy lab was a huge halloween-y success!  We are already planning our next one!
