These classic popular rhymes are so fun to teach to young kids. Now you can use them in your teaching with this simple learning pack that I created!

The History of Mother Goose

If you’ve seen pictures of Mother goose, you know she is depicted as an old woman  flying on a goose and has a pointed nose and chin.  Supposedly she is the author of these classic rhymes.

But if you actually study it out a bit, there may not even have been a Mother Goose at all!  There are many theories about where the name and term came from.

The first actual book of Mother Goose Tales was was by Charles Perrault in 1695.  However these were fairy tales and not nursery rhymes as we know them now.

The first known Mother Goose Nursery Rhymes were published in 1780 or 1781 by a Thomas Carnan.
